The Diversity Immigrant Visa Program awards up to 55,000 permanent resident visas annually, a stepping stone to attaining a permanent U.S. immigrant visa.

DV-2021 Green Card Winners

Enrollment of DV-2020 diversity lottery applicants dropped significantly last year compared to the year before, with a mere 6.7 million submitting applications compared to over 14 million in 2018.  The decrease in the applicant number was due to the new requirement that only unexpired passport holders were eligible to apply. This reduction in applications increases the chance of applicants being chosen and will increase the chance of winning in the future.

Little more than 132,000 registered applicants were notified of the lottery results and can now submit their immigration visa application. The diversity lottery, which is granted under the Immigration and Nationality Act section 203(c), grants 55,000 permanent resident visas every year to people from countries with a low U.S. immigration rate.

Some of the first 55,000 persons who register are unlikely to continue with their visa issuance, which means all DV-2021 numbers are set to be used in the 2021 fiscal year (Oct. 1, 2020 to Sept. 30, 2021).

DV-2021 program applicants are chosen at random from the more than 6.7 million eligible entries that submitted their application before the deadline in November 2019.

You can find the statistical breakdown of those registered with the DV-2021 program by visiting https://www.usgreencardoffice.com/winners

The visas are divided among six geographical regions, with no more than seven percent of people eligible for entrance from a single country.  Applicants will need to provide interviewers with proof of either a high school education (or equal education in applicants home country) or two years of occupational work experience that requires a minimum of two years of training or experience in the last five years.

Chosen applicants must act immediately and submit their immigrant visa applications. Notification letters will instruct applicants what they must do, including filling out the requested information completely. All applicants that have applied directly on US Green Card Office website will have full support form our immigration team regarding further processing and submission of the DS-260 form that is required to be able to obtain a visa interview date at the American Embassy
